LEAD Zanzibar

LEAD Training, Zanzibar, 10-11 November 2014

Within the ongoing project PEV-SADC, ECES implemented a number of capacity building activities throughout the SADC region.

Among such capacity building activities, on the 10-11 November 2014, ECES organized a 5 days training on Leadership & Conflict Management Skills for Electoral Stakeholders (LEAD) in Stone Town, Zanzibar. Participants came from the Electoral Commissions of Zanzibar and Tanzania, the SADC Electoral Support Network in Tanzania & Zanzibar (TEDG, Tanzania Ecumenical Dialogue Group) and ECES itself.

Participants expressed not having felt as if they were in a formal workshop but rather in an open experience sharing conductive learning environment. Participants equally agreed on the timing of the training as it had been scheduled in a very suitable in time for Tanzania and Zanzibar taking into account the constitutional elections of April 2015 and Presidential elections of October 2015.

The trainers were Rindai Chipunde Vava (Executive Director of the SADC ESN), Victoria Florinders (ECES Elections & Conflict Management Advisor) and Ljupka Guguchevska (Director of Training at Electoral Commission Macedonia).

Executive Director of ECES, Fabio Bargiacchi, participated also to the final days of the training. In this occasion, Mr. Bargiacchi delivered a presentation on how to implement cascade trainings for long term capacity development and operational training ahead of Election Day.
